Accessibility: AFH provides housing for residents of all abilities.There are six accessible units in the County Apartments and one unit in the Ethan Allen apartments.
Community Center: The AFH community center is used for programs, and residents can also reserve it for private functions, such as study groups and parties.
Gardening: Residents are welcome to plant flowers in the mulched areas around the apartments. There is also a community garden, where residents can grow vegetables and herbs organically.
Laundry: The community center laundry room, located in AFH's main office building, is available for all residents. Ethan Allen apartments also have washer and dryer hook-ups.
Maintenance requests: Our full-time ResLife maintenance staff takes care of the buildings. For routine maintenance requests, submit a Fix-it. For urgent maintenance requests, call the AFH main office (802) 654-1735, or the CA on duty.
Newsletter: The Cento, AFH's monthly newsletter, contains a calendar of events, articles, and other interesting and important information. You'll also see flyers advertising events a few days before they take place. History buffs may enjoy reading the Cento Archives, a nostalgic and entertaining look back at AHF over the past 30 years.
Parking and Transportation: Free off-street parking is available at the County apartments and behind each unit in the Ethan Allen apartments. Students can ride the CCTA city bus free with their UVM ID card. Buses run between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Firday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays.
Pets: One pet per non-shared apartment is allowed. No pets are allowed in shared apartments. Pets must be under control at all times and not cause a nuisance for neighbors. Dogs must be on a leash while on UVM property, and dog owners must immediately clean up after their pets. All pets must have updated vaccinations. A pet deposit of $75 is required (refundable, based on the apartment's condition at moveout).
Recycling: Each apartment is equipped with a recycling bin. There are recycling containers in the trash areas for you to dispose of your recyclables. Look for a brochure in your apartment that explains more about recycling.
Safety: All apartments are equipped with hard-wired smoke/carbon-monoxide (CO) detectors.
Storage: Most of the Ethan Allen apartments have basement storage. County Apartments offers limited storage in a shed that can be accessed through the maintenance staff.
