The University of Vermont is a non-smoking institution. No smoking is allowed in any University building, including our residence halls. Smoking any substance or creating smoke through the use of incense, candles, or other scented or unscented smoke-producing items, including electronic cigarettes and hookahs, is strictly prohibited. Anyone smoking outdoors must be at least 25 feet away from building entrances, operable windows and air intakes. If you're a smoker, please be considerate of others.
The University of Vermont is in the midst of a planning process aimed at creating a tobacco-free campus. A campus-wide steering committee is leading the discussion and several working groups are giving direction to the project and overseeing the details of implementation. The University is partnering with a number of external agencies and collaborating with governance groups and campus organizations as UVM continues to move toward becoming tobacco-free.Last updated June 16th, 2015
