Please do not bring anything that could put the health, safety, or security of the community at risk, such as:

  • Illegal network devices such as routers, hubs, sniffers, or wireless access points (read about UVM's network policies)
  • Halogen lamps and halogen light bulbs
  • Firearms and weapons
  • Candles
  • Incense
  • Grills - all kinds, including electric grills
  • Flammable liquids (gas, kerosene)
  • Exposed heating elements (sun lamps, hot plates, space heaters)
  • Faceplate and/or octopus-style extension cords
  • Microwaves above 700 watts
  • Waterbeds: For reasons of structural safety, waterbeds are not allowed in any residence hall.
  • Pets: For reasons of health and sanitation, pets (of any type) may not be kept in the residence halls, with the exception of fish in 10-gallon-size aquariums, and service or comfort animals when recommended by ACCESS as an ADA or public accommodation. Family and friends may not bring pets into the halls.
  • Additional furniture that will crowd your room and could create a fire hazard
  • Amplified sound equipment
  • Mercury thermometers
