End-of-year assigned damage charges… what are they?
At the conclusion of each spring semester, ResLife staff inspects all student rooms and all common areas of each building and each complex. Students are not held responsible for repairs needed due to general wear and tear. But if our inspection team finds anything in a considerably different condition than it was known to be at the beginning of the year, students will be charged for the damage.
Assigned damage charges for billable items shared by roommates (recycle bins, walls, extra cleaning charges, etc.) are split evenly. In cases where it is not clear which roommate is responsible for what, items that are not shared (such as furniture) are billed at full cost to each resident. Suite area charges (excessive cleaning, missing furniture, etc.) are shared evenly among suitemates.
Assigned damage charges can be appealed. In early June residents are notified via email of all assigned damage charges and how to appeal them.Last updated March 31st, 2014
